Summ-summ Summer at the Summit ride day

Welcome to 'Summit Feb 2010' braaap club track talk - with me, the braaa-ssster a.k.a Lisa
Looking for somewhere off road to ride? Met up with mates? Get some real riding skills, and learn about the bike? You are in the right place to watch it unfold.
VIP ride day at the Summit – Sun 21 Feb 2010
Some braaap riders and family stayed over – some drove up – it was hot night for all, not much sleep. Great cabins, a fun mess hall. All agreed, a great social night, before the big ride day.
braaap Mechanics marquee –saved many a rider, and was the site of good and bad stories. Can I ride it again today? Yes, we have a spare part right here. Oh, thank goodness (polite version)!!
Lots of Mums and Sisters turned up – it was a true family ride day. Most of the mums had a ride, they are such braaap dare devils, and did an awesome job.
The Tank came out to play – every boy (mostly) loves a toy. So, beside the braaap-ster, the Tank was on hand.
Cool Camo decor. It was the favourite off bike toy from 5yrs to 50yrs. The girls got to do an all-girl ride. That was fantastic. It was a great podium for collector edition photos of the tool of the week.
Drink, drink, drink
– if it’s hot, hot, hot!!! Temperature 30+, riding gear, dust, dirt, sunlight, helmet, gloves – all hot, hot, hot. The best in the world, including braaap super Coach Steve know, drinking lots of water, is just as important as good track skills. We went through so many litres of water. The Summit was great in supplying the drinks. Most of us carry personal drink bottles, to have before, during and after riding. Especially on the way home, as you feel fresh and less fatigued when hydrated. braaap-tastic!
The braaap bush track or as The Summit describes – a world class down-hill cross-country Mountain (push)Bike course; an awesome challenge and ride. After lessons with Steve, and plenty of track practice, this course gets a good run after lunch. A must do if you are adrenaline mad!!
braaap award ‘Tool of the week / Tool of the day’.
As pictured in the photos. My next blog will contain their NEW braaap award winning story.
braaap ‘Spills at the Summit’ is a section I want YOUR comments (the guys & girls who rode on the day). Add a comment or three, and rate your best, worst and funniest spill or spectacular riding skill. I dare you!!!!
This section is a ‘who am I?’
a/. I am male, dark hair, piercings, and work at braaap Frankston. I drive a large van, love mini sx riding. My favourite track is the Summit downhill mountain bike track, and I do not enjoy trees that jump out in the middle of the track, and separate you from your bike. I have learned to love icy head towels, and cold foot baths.......
b/. I am female, ride fully sick (she does!!), have cute as riding gear, outlast a lot of the guys of any of the tracks, and my cute man rides too. We have a ute, and I tried to load my bike at The Summit by myself and tripped over the tow bar, got my finger caught in the tailgate, and look like I have just been cutting onions (that’s what we thought)..... BUT survived, to ride another Summit
c/. I have long-ish hair. I have a brother. One of us was tool of the week, the other got tool of the day. We are featured in photos on this page..... who am I? who is my brother?
d/. I am under 15. I have one brother, and three sisters. My parents are pretty cool. I braaap ride non-stop. I am a natural at all sports, but look most at home on a mini braaap. My gear is awesome, and quick, I’ll race you to the gate post? I don’t want to go home, and would stay forever...... I love Summit days...
e/. I am not under 15. I have a cute son who works at braaap (so that’s what all the girls say...). I’m a mean machine on the track. I look groovy in my gear; I have a wicked smile, great sense of humour, and beat most of the people on the track. I’ll try any style of riding, and I have decaled my car with a braaap sticker (large).... I know my way around a bike or two, and enjoy every element of family days at the Summit.....
f/. I am female. I have two sons, and one daughter. I make the best homemade carrot cake, and run the best pit land crew station of any of the mums. I have a lovely husband, and one of my sons works at braaap. Both my sons are fantastic on the track. One is more of a dare devil than the other. I enjoy being there with my family, it’s a day out for all of us......
Well, that’s all from me, I went straight to the beach when we got home, because we were braaap-ppppeeeddddttt (and hot)
